HIGHLIGHTS

The upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 could sport a 90Hz display panel, 40W fast-charging technology, and a pop-up camera.

The Mi Mix 4 is expected to be launched on September 24.

Last week, we reported that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 would be launched on September 24 with Android 10-based MIUI 11 software running right out of the box. Now though, we've learnt through a new leak that the new Xiaomi flagship smartphone will sport a 90Hz refresh rate display panel, a 40W fast-charging technology, and a pop-up selfie camera. This update comes in the form of a social media post from New technology on Weibo.

Since this new information from Weibo isn't verified, we advise you to take it with a pinch of salt. That said, it's not hard to imagine Xiaomi equipping the Mi Mix 4 with all the aforementioned features. The Mi Mix 4 could well join the list of smartphones that currently offer a display panel with a refresh rate of 90Hz, such as the OnePlus 7 Pro and Nubia Red Magic 3. The upcoming Google Pixel 4 too is expected to come with a 90Hz display panel. You can read more about that here.

From what we've learnt in the past, the Mi Mix 4 could come with a 108MP primary rear camera sensor developed by Samsung. Whether the selfie camera is a motorised pop-up unit or a regular panel-embedded unit is something that's not clear yet. We originally believed Xiaomi's new flagship would come with an 18W fast-charging technology but the recent Weibo post makes us wonder if it could be a 40W system. We should be able to learn more about the Mi Mix 4 in the coming weeks.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is a successor to the Mi Mix 3 but the last model in the series to make it to India was the Mi Mix 2 (find our review of it here). The new Mi Mix 4 is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset (or even the Plus variant of the same). Given that Xiaomi's licence to use the ‘Mix’ name is currently expiring, the upcoming Mi Mix 4 could be sold under a different name. If Xiaomi decides to renew the licence, it could sport the well-established Mix logo on its back panel.
