Xiaomi has sent out a teaser which shows a chin-less lower half of a smartphone. It is claimed that the Mi Mix 3 will add to the list of phones with a near bezel-less display.

Xiaomi is the first company that launched a smartphone, Mi Mix, with just one thick bezel at the bottom. The subsequent phone in the series, the Mi Mix 2, had a thinner chin and a more refined design with the screen-to-body ratio to 91.3 percent. Given that the trend of completely bezel-less phone has taken off well with Oppo Find X (First Impressions) and Vivo NEX, Xiaomi seems to jump on the bandwagon to offer its first near bezel-less smartphone, the Mi Mix 3, to the general public. The Chinese tech giant has sent a launch teaser to Android Pure tech blog, which shows the lower half of a phone and mentions “9.15”.

The blog claims that the phone in question could be the Mi Mix 3 which may come without the chin this year. The “9.15” may imply that the phone could launch on September 15. Not much information has been provided in the teaser but leaks and rumours have already claimed the existence of the smartphone. Slashleak has posted a live hands-on image of the device, giving an idea of what design changes Xiaomi could introduce with the Mi Mix 3. The image shows the smartphone with a larger display than the one we have seen on the Mi Mix 2S. The front-facing camera not visible in the image, but a small slit for the earpiece can be seen clearly. A separate report had earlier tipped that the Mi Mix 3 might get a mechanical pop-up camera.

Another report claimed that the smartphone could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. In the camera department, the Mi MIX 3 may sport a 12MP + 12MP vertically-aligned dual-camera system and may have a 20MP front shooter. When it comes to the software, another leak has claimed that Mi Mix 3 will run MIUI 10 on unidentified Android platform.
