Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with 6.44-inch display and 5300mAh battery set to launch in India today
The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is the successor to last year's Mi Max smartphone featuring a huge 6.44-inch display. The handset is expected to be priced at around Rs 17,000 for the 64GB variant and Rs 20,000 for the 128GB variant.
Xiaomi Mi Max 2, the second generation phablet from the Chinese smartphone maker will be launched in India today. Xiaomi is teasing the launch of the Mi Max 2 as 'Big Is Back' and the smartphone will be announced at an event in New Delhi scheduled to start at 11.30AM IST. The Mi Max 2 will be the fourth product launch in India for Xiaomi. The company has already sold over a million units of the Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4, and by launching Mi Max 2 ahead of the Mi 6, Xiaomi is trying to attract its fanbase. The smartphone was announced during the last week of May in China.
In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 sports a 6.44-inch Full HD display protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 4. Powering the device is Qualcomm's Octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor, coupled with an Adreno 506 GPU. The handset features 4GB RAM and comes with the option of either 64GB or 128GB storage options, along with support for expandable storage up to 256GB.
On the camera front, it gets a 12MP phase detection autofocus rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and dual LED flash. The rear camera is capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps and 720p slow-motion videos at 120fps. The 5MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture remains the same as its predecessor.
It offers connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS with A-GPS, NFC, Infrared port and USB Type-C port. The handset sports a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and is backed by a beefy 5300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 runs MIUI based on Android 7.0 Nougat and will be available in Gold and Matte Black colour options. The smartphone is priced at 1,699 Yuan (approximately Rs 17,000) for the 64GB storage variant and 1,999 Yuan (approximately Rs 20,000) for the 128GB storage model.
