Xiaomi recently unveiled its high-end Mi Mix 2S smartphone, but the company is also said to be working on the Mi A2 (called Mi 6X in China), which would be a successor to the company’s first Android One powered device, the Mi A1. After appearing on TENAA, specifications of the said mobile phone have also been posted online by BestUnderr. As per the report, the Mi A2 will also follow the bezel-less trend and feature a taller screen with an 18:9 display aspect ratio.
The Mi A2 could sport a 5.99-inch full HD+ display and is speculated be powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 626 SoC with 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable storage. It is expected to launch running on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and could be backed by a 2910 mAh battery. It might feature a fingerprint scanner on the rear, along with a 20MP + 8MP main camera setup with f/2.0 and f/1.8 lenses aperture respectively. It is speculated to feature a 20MP front facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. As mentioned earlier, the smartphone was recently spotted on TENAA with the Mi 6X moniker and M1804D2SE model number. The displayed specs of the device on the listing are identical to the new report.
Xiaomi recently announced its Mi Mix 2S smartphone at an event on March 27. It features a thin-bezel display and the camera setup is placed on the bottom right chin of the smartphone. The Mi Mix 2S comes with a vertically stacked dual camera setup and its rear panel is made of ceramic, which supports wireless charging. It comes in Black and White colour variants.
In the hardware department, the Mi Mix 2S features a 6-inch AMOLED display and is powered by a 2.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 platform with an Adreno 630 GPU. On the rear, it’s equipped with dual sensors, a 12MP wide angle and a 12MP telephoto lens. It features dual pixel autofocus (dual PADF) and comes with a 1.4 micron pixel Sony IMX363 sensor. It packs a 3400mAh battery and runs on MIUI 9, based up on Android Oreo.
The smartphone will come in three variants, two with 6GB RAM and options between 64GB and 128GB ROM, which are priced at 3299 RMB (Rs 34,200 approx) and 3599 RMB (Rs 38,000 approx) respectively. There is also an 8GB RAM variant of the smartphone which is equipped with 256 internal storage priced at 3999 RMB (Rs 41,00 approx).
Xiaomi says that the Mi Mix 2S is made using series 7000 Aluminium and sports even thinner bezels as compared to its predecessor. As said above, the device comes with Qi wireless charging with 7.5W quick charging support, which is said to take just under three hours to fully charge the smartphone. The company also unveiled its wireless charger, which also supports charging the iPhone X and is priced it at 99 RMB (Rs 1,025 approx).
The company also emphasised on some ‘powerful’ AI features of the new smartphone, using which one can capture “Dynamic” Bokeh shots, add an artificial background to an image and save it as a GIF or an image. The device also comes with AI scene detection, instant currency and language translation using the camera, and more. The mobile phone will also come with the company’s ‘XiaoAI’ smart assistant, which is similar to Google Assistant and Siri. It can be used for capturing photos, control other Mi devices, setting an alarm, and more using voice commands.
