Xiaomi has launched a new Special Edition Red colour variant of its Mi A1 smartphone priced at Rs 13,999. It will go on sale starting December 20 via Mi.com during the company’s Mi No 1 Fan sale. The special edition Red variant of the device is similar in terms of hardware to the regular Mi A1.
The Mi A1 is the company’s first smartphone to come with Android One. It runs on stock Android Nougat instead of the company’s own MIUI. Xiaomi recently started rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo beta update for the device soon after the company announced that it was looking for beta testers for its upcoming Android Oreo update.
In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
The Mi A1 sports dual 12MP rear cameras with one wide-angle and another telephoto lens capable of 2x optical zoom. The primary camera supports portrait mode photography, 10x digital zoom and comes with Beautify 3.0 mode. It features a 5MP front facing camera with 1080p video recording support.
The Mi A1 also comes with an IR blaster and features a 10V “smart” audio amplifier. The smartphone packs a 3080mAh battery and features USB Type-C port for connectivity. The Mi A1 was launched in black, Gold and Rose Gold colour options and users also get unlimited high-quality storage from Google Photos. The Xiaomi Mi A1 was launched at a price of Rs 14,999 but the company recently slashed its price by Rs 1,000.
