A recent report suggested that Xiaomi is working on three new smartphones codenamed “pyxis”, “bamboo_sprout”, and “cosmos_sprout.” While “bamboo_sprout”, and “cosmos_sprout” are speculated to be the Mi A3 and the Mi A3 Lite, “pyxis” could be the company’s chinese variant of the Mi A3, which might be called the Mi 9X. A fresh leak now reveals more details about the Mi 9X, including its specifications and pricing. As per a Weibo post, the Mi 9X could be announced as an upper mid-range handset. The smartphone is said to come equipped with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch and a 19.5:9 display aspect ratio. It could also get an in-display fingerprint sensor.
As per the leak, similar to the Redmi Note 7 pro, the Mi 9X could be launched running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC. It might come with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage but other variants can also be expected. The handset is slated to run on MIUI10 based on Android Pie and come equipped with a 3300mAh battery that supports 18W fast charge. Coming to the optics, the Mi 9X may feature a 32MP Samsung S5KGD1 sensor on the front. The smartphone could feature a triple rear camera setup. It is said to consist of a 48MP primary Sony IMX586 sensor, a 13MP super wide-angle camera, and an 8MP sensor, which might be used for depth sensing or as a telephoto sensor.
The Mi 9X is also touted to be 7.5mm thick and come with a glass back. If the company sticks to its usual practice, then the Mi A3 is most likely to feature similar specs as the Mi 9X. As for the Mi A3 Lite, it is expected to run on a less powerful chipset and is most likely to feature slightly lower screen resolution. The leak suggests that the Mi 9X is most likely to debut in April with a starting price of CNY 1,699 ( Rs 18,000 approx).
