Xiaomi could launch a new flagship smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 7, early next year with a bezel-less display and a dual camera setup. According to a report by mydrivers, the smartphone is expected to be unveiled early next year and could be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 845 chipset.
The report suggests that the Xiaomi Mi 7 could come with a 6.01-inch OLED display made by Samsung and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is also expected to sport a bezel-less design. As mentioned above, the smartphone is rumoured to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and come with 6GB RAM. In terms of camera, the Mi 7 is tipped feature a rear dual camera setup with two 16MP sensors. One of the sensors is said to sport f/1.7 aperture lens for better low light photography.
The Xiaomi Mi 7 could sport a 3350mAh battery and come with a rear placed fingerprint sensor. Even though the flagship smartphones by Apple and OnePlus sport facial recognition feature, the Mi 7 is reported to skip it because the technology “is not perfect enough” for the device.
The smartphone’s predecessor, the Mi 6, was launched earlier this year in China and the Mi 7 could also be a smartphone exclusive to Xiaomi’s home country.
Xiaomi already has a bezel-less smartphone in its ranks with the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. The Mi Mix 2 was launched in India last month and sports a nearly bezel-less design with 12 percent reduced chin than its predecessor, the Mi Mix. It features a Univisium 5.99-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and comes in three internal storage configurations of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB.
In terms of camera, the Mi Mix 2 sports a single 12MP rear camera setup with Sony IMX386 sensor, and comes with four axis OIS and dual-tone LED flash. It features a 5MP front-facing camera, which akin to its predecessor, is placed on the lower end of the smartphone’s display.
