The smartphone will also support double-tap to wake and sleep features, and come in coloured packaging, as compared to the traditional plain brown one.

The Xiaomi Mi 4c will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC, as per information confirmed by Xiaomi’s President and co-Founder Lin Bin, and CEO and co-Founder, Lei Jun. Alongside, the smartphone will offer 'improved' connectivity, providing 20% faster connection speeds than Xiaomi's previous smartphones. It will also have the double-tap to wake and sleep feature, which is presently available in a number of Android smartphones.

The Xiaomi Mi 4c will support dual-4G LTE standby mode – an improvement over the earlier phones where only one SIM slot supported 4G. Additionally, Xiaomi has also confirmed a change in the packaging of the device. Traditionally, Xiaomi devices come in a plain brown-coloured box. The company has changed it to orange and white for the upcoming device. Bin has already stated a September 22 launch date for the device, along with confirming that the Mi 4c will be available in two variants: 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage.

Xiaomi has not confirmed detailed specifications, but the Mi 4c is expected to have a 5-inch Full HD display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, and a 3080mAh battery. The device is expected to run on MIUI 7, based on Android Lollipop v5.0. It might also feature a USB Type-C port. There have also been speculations that Xiaomi will make only 1,00,000 units of the smartphone available in the market, although it is unclear if the limited number will include both the variants, or for each of them individually.

There are also rumours related to Xiaomi’s next flagship device, the Mi 5. It is expected to come with 5.3-inch Quad HD display, 4GB of RAM, 16MP rear camera, 16GB and 64GB of in-built storage, and either Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 or MediaTek's Helio X20 SoC.
