HIGHLIGHTS

Lin Bin has announced that the phone will be unveiled on September 22 and will be available in two versions.

The co-founder and president of Xiaomi, Lin Bin, has announced that the Xiaomi Mi 4c will be unveiled on September 22. He also confirmed that the phone will have two versions — one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, while the other will come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of memory.

Last month, images of the Mi 4c had been leaked on TENAA and suggested that the phone would come with a 1.4Ghz hexa-core Snapdragon 808 SoC and a 5-inch display with 1080p resolution. It would also come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. It would also have a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP front facing camera. Earlier this month, an image of the retail of box of the Mi 4c was leaked and confirmed much of the specs that were leaked on TENAA. It also showed that the device would come with a USB Type-C port and a 3,080 mAh battery.

Earlier reports suggested that the Mi 4c would be announced on September 24 and be available by October 3. However, only 100,000 units will be made available. This may be possible as it has been suggested that the phone is intended to be a stop-gap handset till the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 5.

Xiaomi’s next generation flagship device, Mi 5, has been speculated to come with a MediaTek Helio X20 processor. Previous rumors suggested that the device would come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. However, Xiaomi may have chosen the X20 as it is expected to be released much sooner. The phone is also expected to come with 4GB of RAM, a 5.3-inch QHD display and a 16MP camera along with a USB Type-C port. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be launched with two variants, one with 16GB of internal storage and another with 64GB. It is also expected to come with a fingerprint scanner and a teaser that was leaked suggested the same.
