Redmi Note 9 Pro to go on sale in India on May 5
Xiaomi Mi 10 will finally be announced in India after the company deferred the earlier launch date of March 31 due to the outbreak of Coronavirus and the subsequent nation-wide lockdown that was imposed on March 22. Now that the Indian government has eased up a bit on regulations in Green and Orange zones, smartphone manufacturers are opening up to online launches and sales.
The official Twitter handle of Xiaomi India revealed that it is gearing up to announce the Mi 10 with 108MP camera “and more” in a live stream on May 8. Earlier today, the company announced that its new mid-range smartphone, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is set to go on sale from May 5 in the country and can be ordered by people living in Green and Orange zones.
Xiaomi India VP, Manu Kumar Jain has previously hinted that the Mi 10 will be imported from China and won’t be assembled or made in India. This implies that the phone is not going to be as affordable as Xiaomi is known to price it’s other “value for money” smartphones. Moreover, the GST hike imposed in India could also play a spoilsport for the price set by Xiaomi.
In China, the Mi 10 starts from CNY 3,999 and that could translate to around Rs 42,000 when it launches in India. The Mi 10 will go up against the likes of OnePlus 8 series and the Apple iPhone SE 2020, both of which were announced only recently.
