According to a report, Xiaomi will use an LCD panel which will be manufactured by China-based BOE.

Samsung and Honor just became the first two companies to adopt the punch hole camera technology and now Xiaomi seems to be preparing to jump on that bandwagon. According to a report on mydrivers.com, the Chinese tech company is preparing to launch a smartphone with a 48MP camera. Interestingly, the 48MP sensor will be a part of the triple camera setup on the back panel.

The report also says that the smartphone will belong to the Redmi lineup and will have a punch-hole in the display to incorporate the selfie camera. Just like the Samsung Galaxy A8s and Honor View 20, this Xiaomi device will also have a LCD panel, which will be provided by China-based display manufacturing company BOE. This means that the display will not have an edge-to-edge display and the phone is expected to have a chin.

Honor’s View20 smartphone also has a 48MP sensor in the single camera used on the back and a hole in the display for the selfie shooter. Honor unveiled its Honor View20 smartphone at an event in Hong Kong with a new Link Turbo feature to help boost network speeds. Honor is expected to reveal complete specifications and features of the phone at its global launch on January 22, in Paris. The smartphone is powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC, the company’s latest flagship chip with dual ISP and dual NPU.

At the same time, Samsung also launched the Galaxy A8s with the an Infinity-O display, which is basically a panel that has a punch-hole to fit a front facing camera. Xiaomi is expected to follow Samsung when it comes to the photography. The Galaxy A8s has a triple camera setup at back featuring a 24MP primary ultra-wide sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a 10MP telephoto sensor and a 5MP depth sensor.
