Tomorrow, Xiaomi is expected to announce the Redmi 3 or MIUI 7.1 coming to India. Can you guess what Xiaomi is hinting at?

Xiaomi India has been teasing a "wonderful" announcement on twitter, set to happen on January 14. The teaser image shows a Mi rocket alongside the text, "Mi Generation, T-24 hours to lift off." The company tweet read, "An exciting announcement will happen tomorrow 🙂 Always believe something wonderful is about to happen." Although the teaser is extremely vague, Mi fans have been playing a guessing game with the company on Twitter. The popular opinion is that Xiaomi will be announcing their latest launch, the Redmi 3, in India. Some fans also feel that this could be related to the release of MIUI 7.1 custom Android ROM for Xiaomi devices.

Xiaomi had recently revealed the Redmi 3 in China. The device comes with a 5-inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It is powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor with four cores clocked 1.5Ghz and the other 4 clocked at 1.2GHz. The smartphone also comes equipped with 2GB of RAM with 16GB of onboard storage which can be expanded by up to 128GB via a microSD card. There is a 13MP camera located on the back of the device with a 5MP front facing camera. The device comes with a large 4100mAh battery and runs MIUI 7 layered over Android Lollipop. It also  features an all-metal body with a textured rear panel and is available in Gold, Grey, and Silver colour variants. The price of the Redmi 3 in China is CNY 699, which is about Rs. 7,100.

Currently, no official invite has been sent for a launch event by Xiaomi India. Hence, the probability of the announcement being that of the Redmi 3 is not likely.
