Xiaomi extends Mi Exchange program to online store: Everything you need to know

HIGHLIGHTS

The program allows users to exchange their old smartphones for a voucher, which can be redeemed while purchasing a Xiaomi smartphone from Mi.com.

After partnering with Cashify for bringing the Mi Exchange Program offline to the Mi Home stores back in November 2017, Xiaomi has now extended the program to its online channel as well. One can now exchange their old smartphone to obtain a voucher, which can be used for purchasing a new Xiaomi handset from the company’s website, Mi.com.

Xiaomi says that the best exchange price will be based on a phone’s condition and current market price. In order to make use of the new scheme, a user needs to access the Mi Exchange page by visiting mi.com/in/miexchange. There, they will be able to choose an eligible smartphone for exchange from the list of supported devices. Select smartphones from Xiaomi, Samsung, Sony, HTC, Motorola, Micromax, Gionee, Oppo, Asus, Lenovo, OnePlus, Huawei, Vivo, LeTV and Google are listed under the exchange program and after selection, they will be shown an estimated exchange value.

Users then need to provide their IMEI numbers and accept the terms and conditions after which their Mi account will be instantly credited with the exchange value coupon. The coupon can be used on Mi.com while purchasing a new smartphone. It should be noted that the coupon is not eligible for use offline at Mi home stores. It will only be eligible for 15 days from the time it’s issued and cannot be redeemed while purchasing accessories.

Also, the smartphone being exchanged shouldn’t have cracks on screen or dents and should be in working condition with all security measures like screen lock, cloud-based accounts removed and it will be picked up when the newly bought device is being delivered. In case Xiaomi finds that the smartphone being exchanged is not eligible, the order will be cancelled and the full amount will be refunded.
