It seems that Xiaomi is all set to bring the first phone of its newest sub-brand Poco, the Pocophone F1, in India. Pocophone F1 has been tipped as the most affordable phone to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. According to a chat between the two top executives of Xiaomi India on Twitter, Indians may be the first lot witness the smartphone.
The first tweet came from Jai Mani, Lead Product Manager, Mi India, Xiaomi. “Today is a special day. I'm excited to start sharing more about the new project I've been working on. Wish me luck! @IndiaPOCO @GlobalPocophone,” he said. His tweet was then shared and replied to by Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Kumar Jain. “Full throttle ahead! My best wishes to you @jaimani and the @IndiaPOCO team. I can sense that something wonderful is about to happen,” Manu Kumar Jain added.
To Mani’s tweet, Xiaomi India and Poco India also replied. “God'speed' @JaiMani and the @IndiaPOCO team! Now this is going to be exciting,” tweeted Xiaomi India. The Poco India handle may have given a subtle hint about the phone. “Fasten your seatbelt @XiaomiIndia 🙂 It's going to be a fast ride!” it said. This could imply the fast processing power of the phone.
This news followed a video leak that showed the phone in its entirety. The video has now been deleted due to copyright claims by Xiaomi. The Pocophone F1 is rumoured to have received Bluetooth certification from US FCC which reveals the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 and it is claimed that the processor will be liquid-cooled. The chipset will be coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage which will go up to 8GB and 128GB. The Pocophone F1 will tout a 12MP camera paired with a 5MP sensor for depth sensing. On the front will be a 20MP sensor, an infrared illuminator and an infrared camera for fast face unlock.
