Xiaomi Mi 4 16GB price slashed to Rs. 14,999.

HIGHLIGHTS

Xiaomi India has dropped the prices of the 16GB Mi 4 in India to Rs. 14,999.

Xiaomi India has cut down the prices of its flagship Mi 4 (16GB variant) by Rs. 4,000 taking the price down from Rs. 18,999 to Rs. 14,999. This has been done to celebrate 1 crore Mi 4 phones sold worldwide by the company. The price drop is only limited to Flipkart and is only available on the 16GB variant. The 16GB model is also available under an exchange offer. The company recently dropped the price of the 64GB variant to Rs. 19,999 as well.

The Xiaomi Mi 4 (16GB) with the latest price drop has become a more noteworthy option than the OnePlus One as both phones share almost the same specs. The Mi 4 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC. This quad-core SoC from Qualcomm is actually a year old but it still powers many flagship devices including the Moto X (2nd gen). There is 3GB RAM on-board for better multi-tasking but buyers might find the lack of a microSD card slot on the 16GB variant a deal breaker.

There is a 13MP rear camera which takes good pictures and an 8MP front-facing camera which is equally good. The 5.0 1080p IPS LCD is crisp and one of the best we have seen on a smartphone. The phone is well designed and features an all aluminium frame which gives the phone rigidity and adds a premium feel to it. The phone was a very good option without the price drop and with the price drop, the deal has become even sweeter.

On the other hand, Xiaomi Mi 4’s main competitor right now, the OnePlus One has also seen a price cut in Western markets recently and today, the company has lowered prices for its 64GB variant in India to Rs. 19,998. Even a more 'premium' brand like Motorola has lowered the price of its Moto X (2nd gen) in order to compete with these phones. All these phone manufacturers are expected to launch new flagships later this year namely, Xiaomi Mi 5, OnePlus Two and the Motorola Moto X (3rd gen).
