Xiaomi co-founder teases Redmi Note 2 Pro with rear fingerprint sensor
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro has a fingerprint sensor on the back, along with a dual-tone flash.
The rumoured Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro smartphone has been spotted online from perhaps the most credible source possible. Company co-founder, Bin Lin, posted an image on Weibo, which shows the phone’s rear camera. The image shows a circular camera lens, similar to leaks that we’ve seen earlier. In addition, it shows a metalllic design for the smartphone, similar to many others we’ve seen from China, recently.
In fact, the recently launched Le 1S smartphone looks very similar to what we have seen in the image. That is not the only similarity, either. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro is also expected to have a circular fingerprint sensor on the back, and the image also shows a dual-tone flash between the fingerprint sensor and the camera. However, there is no word on when and where the phone will be launched, or how much it will cost.
A different teaser, seen online earlier this week, had hinted at a November 24 launch date, but the company hasn’t confirmed this yet. The phone was also spotted on TENAA listings earlier, with the specs including a 5.5-inch FHD display, along with a MediaTek Helio X10 processor and 13/5MP cameras on the back and front, respectively. In addition, the phone is expected to have 2GB of RAM, 16GB of ROM and a 3060mAh battery.
If the above specifications are true, then the MediaTek Helio X10 SoC in the Redmi Note 2 Pro is worth noting. The company’s legal battles with Ericsson had barred it from selling MediaTek-powered devices in India, and we haven’t received any new information on the same. So, like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, which was announced in China some time ago, this one may not come to India either. Of course, none of this is confirmed, and will be known only when Xiaomi makes it official.
