Xiaomi's latest addition to its accessories line-up under the MIJIA crowdfunding project is a new 3-axis mobile video stabiliser. The new gimbal competes with DJI's widely acclaimed Osmo mobile and is priced at 799 Yuan (approximately Rs 8,000).
Xiaomi's 3-axis video stabiliser uses high-precision acceleration sensors to detect the real-time movement of a smartphone. The handheld device offers four different shooting models namely horizontal movement, omni-directional movement, locking direction and vertical mode. The brushless motor can rotate the device from 9-degrees to 30-degrees for a 207-degree rotation. The device is aimed at mobile users exploring options to shoot professional-quality videos with improved stabilisation.
Xiaomi is also advertising its new 3-axis stabiliser as a selfie stick that can be mounted onto a tripod. The handheld video stabiliser is backed by a 1050mAh battery, which Xiaomi claims will last for four hours of video recording. Xiaomi's 3-axis handheld stabiliser measures 266 x 53 x 43 mm in dimensions and weighs around 450 grams. The device seems limited to China and Xiaomi has not yet announced any plans to launch it elsewhere. The new 3-axis handheld stabiliser is available for purchase from Xiaomi's Mi Home crowdfunding platform.
