HyperOS has been under development since 2017 and is specifically crafted to cater to Xiaomi’s extensive portfolio of products, including smartphones, smart home devices and cars, reports Gizmochina.
Xiaomi said that this new operating system will seamlessly integrate into its complete product ecosystem, making it easier for users to control and manage their devices from one place.
Lei Jun also explained in a post on Weibo that HyperOS is “based on the integration of the deeply evolved Android and the self-developed Vela system, completely rewriting the underlying architecture, and preparing a public base for the Internet of Everything for tens of billions of devices and tens of billions of connections in the future.”
For those who are unaware, Xiaomi Vela is an Internet of Things (IoT) software system platform based on the open-source embedded operating system NuttX, the report said.
Xiaomi is expected to reveal more details about the new HyperOS software when it launches the Xiaomi 14 series later this month.
Earlier, it was rumoured that Xiaomi’s new operating system would be MIOS.
