World’s first modular phone, LG G5, launched in India
The Latest flagship smartphone from LG offers a Snapdragon 820 SoC and dual camera setup
Earlier this year at MWC Barcelona, LG launched the LG G5 smartphone, which was the first smartphone to be launched with a modular design. Today, the phone was launched in India with much fanfare at a price of Rs. 52,990 via Flipkart. At this price, the device is made available with a free battery and a charging cradle.
This is LG’s first flagship to boast a metal construction and a fingerprint scanner. The device boasts a 5.3-inch IPS LCD panel with 2560 x 1440p resolution. It is running one of the best SoC’s in the market, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. This is also the second phone in India to offer the 820 SoC after the Xiaomi Mi 5. There is 4GB of RAM and the smartphone features 32GB of on-board storage. The storage can be further expanded using a microSD card and the dedicated memory slot on the phone supports upto 200GB.
Besides the best in class SoC, the LG G5 features a dual camera setup. There is a 16MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP wide angle secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture. The wide angle lens can take images 135 degree wide. It features laser assisted autofocus and 3 axis OIS (Optical image stabilization). The 2800mAh battery is still removable and can be removed by pressing a button on the left side of the phone. It also supports Quick Charge 3.0 and LG claims 19 hours of talktime or up to 240 hours of screen on time. On the connectivity front, the device features WiFi, bluetooth, NFC, 4G and VoLTE support.
