While there are plenty of quirky omissions from Windows Phone 7 that have shocked the world, from the lack of true multi-tasking and copy-paste to the lack of Flash support, Bluetooth file transfers and USB mass storage. This was especially ironic, as Windows Mobile, in most of its iterations, was one of the most feature-rich and fearless mobile operating systems out there.
[RELATED_ARTICLE]While Microsoft’s early take throughout the long and public development of Windows Phone 7 was one treated the omissions as unused features, the company soon changed their tune, and has promised a healthy update cycle that would bring these and many other much-demanded features to the table.
Copy-paste was one of the features that were expected to arrive with the first major massive service pack type update, however now; rumours of a new minor update have surfaced, based on video evidence. The update, which seems to only provide the copy-paste functionality, has apparently made its way to WP7 developers’ hands, and can quite possibly see the light of end user day soon.
The possibility that this is just for developers right now, and that the update which will actually bring this to handsets will be much larger, still remains. In the meanwhile, check out the video below, and join us in hoping that Microsoft begins to plug other holes sooner than later.
