Leaked documents show Samsung might go with Qualcomm instead of their own Exynos chipset.

Samsung might opt to go with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 instead of their own Exynos chipset. Judging by the latest document leak from China, the manufacturer is currently testing the Snapdragon 820 on the Samsung Galaxy S7.

The next flagship device from Samsung is codenamed 'Jungfrau' and the leaked docs show Add [MSM8996] written in front of it. The MSM8996 is the model number for Snapdragon 820. This information is listed under the Upgrade Plan section of the doc, which suggests it is an upgrade of sorts. The leak also suggests an Android M upgrade for the device, which does make sense as Android M will most probably launch by the time the Galaxy S7 starts shipping.

Since it is just the testing phase, it isn't certain that Samsung will go with the chipset as various changes do take place from the testing phase to the final shipment of the product. In the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, Samsung used their own chipset, Exynos 7420 because of the heating issues with the Snapdragon 810. And since Qualcomm is yet to make the Snapdragon 820 official, it is quite hard to predict whether Samsung will go with Snapdragon or their own Exynos chipset.

Besides this, Samsung is also rumored to working on gigantic 18.4-inch tablet that was spotted in the import/export docs last week. The company is just few days away from their Galaxy Unpacked Event where they are expected to launch Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, and a large tablet. So, stay in touch to know exactly what devices Samsung releases at the event.
