Will Meizu launch the MX5 in India on August 26?
HIGHLIGHTS

The company will be officially launching its brand later this month at an event in New Delhi and is expected to bring the MX5 to India.

Meizu, the chinese company which recently launched its M2 Note in India, is going official with its brand launch on August 26th. The company is known across the border for its well specced phones as well as competitive pricing, and has a considerable number phones in its stable. It is expected that the company might bring its flagship phone, the MX5, as well as few others, to the Indian market.

The Meizu MX5 is powered by a Mediatek Helio X10 SoC, which is a powerful 64-bit SoC that was earlier seen on the HTC One M9 Plus. It also features 3GB of RAM and storage options of upto 64GB. For display, it has a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. At the back, the phone has a 20.7MP camera and there's a 5MP camera at the front. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home/back button and features a fairly large 3150mAh battery.

In a related story, Droidfeed reported a leaked image of an alleged “Meizu MX5 Pro” earlier today. The device is rumored to be powered by a Samsung Exynos SoC, which might be the Exynos 7420. Its is also expected to have a 5.5-inch QHD display. Besides the “Pro”, another phone is also rumored to be in the works and that might have a 6-inch display. Both phones are expected to carry the same spec sheet as the MX5 and could also offer 4GB of RAM. If these rumors are true, Meizu’s upcoming phone might be as fast as a Samsung Galaxy S6.

Price has been a major plus point for Meizu devices, the current MX5 is priced at EUR 260 (RS. 18,500 approx). Even if Meizu introduces this phone in India for Rs. 20,000, no other phone would be able to match its performance at that price. Currently though, Meizu is only selling two phones in the Indian mobile market, Meizu M2 Note and M1 Note. The recently launched M2 Note has a very promising mid tier hardware and is competitively placed in the sub-10K range and is giving major competition from the YU Yureka Plus. We recently compared the two phones along with the Asus Zenfone 2 laser and the M2 note presented a really solid case for itself.
