Vivo has announced that it will launch the Vivo Z1Pro on Flipkart in India soon. This will be the company’s first online-focussed smartphone in the country. The smartphone will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series processor (possibly the SD710), a triple lens setup at the back and what Vivo calls an "in-display selfie camera," which is basically a punch-hole camera. The news comes a day after Vivo teased a Z-series phone launch in India. Earlier it was thought that the phone in question could be the Vivo Z5x that was launched in China last month. An industry source also shared some images of the phone with us.
“Offering meaningful and innovative experience has been a key pillar of our strategy and our partnership with Flipkart is a step further in that direction. The all-new Z series has been designed to empower the young millennials and fulfill the dynamic needs of the Generation Z,” Nipun Marya, Director Brand Strategy, Vivo India, said in a statement. The company also highlighted certain USPs of the phone.
As mentioned, Vivo says that the Z1Pro has been designed keeping in mind the needs of the India’s Gen-Z smartphone consumers. The phone is aimed at making multitasking on a wide-view screen easy. The phone is also touts a long lasting battery. The company says that the phone will come with Vivo’s exclusive Fast Charging technology. In the camera department, the phone is said to sport an AI-powered selfie shooter with photo customisation solutions. Our source previously told us that the phone will feature a triple camera setup and Vivo has now confirmed the development. However, it has not revealed the type of sensors that it will incorporate in the handset.
According to Counterpoint Research, Vivo has captured the third spot in the Indian smartphone marketn in the first quarter of 2019. With 12 percent share, it is behind Xiaomi (29 percent) and Samsung (23 percent). It's sister company Oppo is on the fourth spot with Seven percent market share. The smartphone brand registered a growth of 119 percent on a year-over-year basis.
