Vivo has silently added another new budget smartphone to its Y-series lineup in Malaysia. Vivo Y25 4G is now listed on the company's Malaysian website at 499 MYR (around Rs 7,500).
Vivo Y25 is a 4.5-inch candybar smartphone powered by a quad-core MediaTek MTK6580 processor. The display here has a qHD resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The smartphone comes with 1GB RAM, 16GB storage and support for expandable storage up to 128GB. Vivo Y25 sports a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. The 9.2mm thick handset is backed by a 1900mAh battery and runs Funtouch OS 2.1 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. Vivo Y25 supports 4G and comes equipped with an accelerometer, light sensor and proximitiy sensor.
Vivo is one of the fastest growing smartphone brand globally and has managed to dethrone Apple and Xiaomi in its home market China. According to IDC, Vivo shipped 69.2 million smartphones in 2016, registering a growth of 96 percent year-over-year. At Rs 7,500, Vivo Y25 falls in the same price range as that of Xiaomi's best selling Redmi 3S series. It will be tough for Vivo Y25 to differentiate itself.
