Vivo V5s with 20MP moonlight selfie camera to launch in India today
Vivo V5s has been officially announced in Thailand and the handset is expected to be priced around Rs 18,990 in India
Vivo V5s, the third smartphone in Vivo's selfie-centric V5 series will be launched in India, today. The Chinese smartphone maker started sending media invites for the event last week and the launch event is expected to start at 12.45PM. The company is livestreaming the V5s launch on its website and social media accounts.
Ahead of the India launch, Vivo had made the V5s official in Thailand. As expected, the main selling point of this device is its selfie camera. The handset features a 20MP front camera with "Moonlight Flash" and f/2.2 aperture. The front camera setup on the V5s is identical to the one found on its predecessor, the V5. The smartphone also offers a 13MP rear camera with phase detect autofocus, f/2.0 aperture and support for 1080p video recording. There's support for beautification mode, panorma, slowmotion video recording, timelapse and pro shooting mode.
On the hardware front, the Vivo V5s sports a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and Corning's Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Powering the device is an octa-core MediaTek processor, coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Vivo V5s also supports expandable storage up to 256GB via microSD card slot. The Vivo V5s is a dual-SIM smartphone and supports different connectivity options like WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 with OTA and GPS with GLONASS. The handset runs Funtouch OS 3.0, based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is backed by a 3000mAh battery. The Vivo V5s is priced at 9,990 Thai Baht and is rumoured to launch at Rs 18,990.
