Chinese handset brand Vivo is reportedly working on an ultra slim smartphone that will be around just 3.8mm. Images of the ultra slim Vivo smartphone have already leaked to the Internet. One of the leaked images pits the Vivo phone against the newly launched iPhones.
If rumours are true, Vivo will break the world record for the slimmest smartphone – currently held by Gionee Elife S5.1 – by a sizable 1.3mm. Right now, there's no official confirmation or more details on Vivo's rumoured smartphone.
Vivo has made attempts to launch slim phones in the past. The company had launched a 5.75mm thin X3. The smartphone beat Samsung's then flagship Galaxy S4, which measured 7.9mm, while the HTC One measured 9.3mm. The X3 also broke then record of the Huawei Ascend P6 as the slimmest phone in the world.
'World's slimmest phone' moniker certainly attracts more eyeballs. However, the phone has to offer good specifications and price as well to compete with other phones. One of the main challenges slim phones faces is squeezing the battery size. It will be interesting to see how Vivo overcomes this engineering challenge.
