Vivo will announce the second device in its Apex series called the Apex 2019 on January 24 and it’s surprising that there haven’t been many leaks of the phone. The company has been teasing the phone and recently posted a promo video that partly showcased the device, sans any buttons. Now, Ben Geskin has made a render of the handset based on the promo video that provides the best look at the device yet. The original Vivo Apex was the first phone that used a pop-up camera to get rid of the notch and (more-or-less) set the standard for bezel-less phones. Only time will tell if the Chinese smartphone maker can reiterate innovation with its upcoming smartphone. The Vivo Apex smartphone from last year was later launched as the Vivo Nex and the upcoming phone could be announced as the Vivo Nex 2.
The renders suggest that the smartphone might not feature any buttons, not even volume rockers or the power button and there might not also be a 3.5mm audio jack. Additionally, there is a vertical dual-rear camera on the back with an LED flash placed below and no fingerprint sensor. The upcoming handset is speculated to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor like its predecessor and the company may use a bigger in-display fingerprint sensor that covers more area of the display for easily unlocking the phone, similar to what Xiaomi showcased recently. The device could also support wireless charging since its sister company, Oppo, is now a member of the Wireless Power Consortium.
Vivo recently launched its Nex Dual Display smartphone which, as the name suggests, features dual displays. It features a second AMOLED panel on the back and removes the pop-up front-facing camera. It is a flagship-grade phone with Snapdragon 845, coupled with 10GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. On the front is a 6.39-inch FullHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 91.63 percent screen-to-body ratio.
