Vivo and Transsion could be working on taking the rollable concept commercially.

The biggest competition to them seems to be Samsung.

The smartphone industry is evolving faster than we can imagine. Foldable phones, flip phones, what next do we have? Well, there are a lot of possibilities there but today we’re going to talk about a rollable phone in particular that Vivo is currently working on.

I have a strong feeling that after flip and foldable smartphones, smartphones with rollable screens are going to be the next big thing. Let’s see where this trend goes. Currently, we hear news that Vivo and Transsion could be working on smartphones that could possibly have a rollable screen.

Remember the Moto Rizr? Motorola displayed this concept phone with a rollable screen at the Mobile World Congress 2023. It was just a concept phone but it was widely talked about on the internet. Also, recently the Tecno Phantom Ultimate, another concept phone with a rollable display was showcased too. Now, Vivo and Transsion could be working on taking the rollable concept commercially. Doesn’t this sound way cool?

Vivo and Transsion rollable smartphone launch timeline

Chinese brands Vivo and Transsion have been working on rollable devices and if reports are to be believed, they can be released by next year. Since this is a new space, the companies are pacing to grab the “world’s first smartphone with a rollable screen” title. And if we’re lucky, by the end of 2024, we’ll get to see the Vivo and Transsion rollable smartphones, according to CNMO. Transsion’s first smartphone with a rollable display could launch under the Tecno brand as it already made a concept phone.

What we can make out is that Vivo and Transsion are trying to come up with a quick deadline for their smartphones with the rollable display to beat the competition and to have the first movers advantage. The biggest competition to them seems to be Samsung. Even though currently the South Korean tech brand is focusing on its foldable smartphones, it had earlier hinted at its future display options that included a rollable display. And we all know that Samsung is quite ahead in the foldable smartphone market, Vivo and Transsion don’t want to take a chance with this one.

Well now let’s just wait and see when the smartphone with a rollable display is out and who wins the race to launch it first.
