ViewSonic has announced the launch of its dual-SIM Android-based smartphone, ViewPhone 3, in India. Priced at Rs. 9,990, the ViewPhone 3 runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and is powered by an 800 MHz Qualcomm processor.
The ViewPhone 3, was unveiled at the CES 2012 event earlier this year along with ViewPad 10pi and 10e tablets. Speaking of specifications, the phone has 512MB of RAM & ROM while microSD card support enables a 32GB expandable memory. The ViewPhone 3 features a 3.5 capacitive TFT display with 320×480 pixel resolution and a 5MP auto-focus camera. The dual-SIM phone supports 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB for connectivity. The device comes with 1,500 mAh battery.
It will soon be available at Reliance Digital outlets in the country.
ViewSonic’s ViewPhone 3 will be facing stiff competition from other dual-SIM Android-based budget smartphones in the market. Micromax recently launched its Superfone A50 Ninja dual-SIM phone, running on 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system. The Micromax Superfone A50 Ninja comes for just Rs. 4,999. Samsung, another leading name in the dual-SIM smartphone segment, has launched quite a few Android-based dual-SIM phones such as Galaxy Y Pro duos (Rs. 9,500) and Galaxy Y Pro ( Rs. 8,990).
Apart from Android-based dual-SIM phones, Nokia is also doing good in the dual-SIM segment with its latest S40-based Asha series phones. Nokia recently strengthened its Asha portfolio with the launch of Nokia Asha 202 (Rs. 4,149) and Asha 302 (Rs. 6,285).
