The alleged upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core SoC and features 3GB of RAM.

Amongst the rumors of Xiaomi making a Mi Note 2 and a bendable display, we also saw a new phone from the company doing the rounds on the web. Called the Xiaomi Meri, the device was recently seen on Geekbench benchmark website. According to that listing, the device is powered by a 1.4Ghz octa-core SoC, which is coupled with 3GB of RAM. This allows the phone to score 758 points in the single-core benchmark and 3043 points in the multi-core benchmark. Besides this, the phone was leaked on Weibo as well.

The leaked images posted on Weibo show the alleged phone running AnTuTu benchmark, and in one of the images, the device score 63,581 points. This suggests that the device is not powered by a high end processor and most likely aimed at the budget segment. The leaked images further suggest that the device has a 5.5-inch display offering a 1920 x 1080p resolution. As for the GPU, there is a Mali-T864 GPU on the device. The phone is rumored to have 64GB of storage and is expected to launch by the end of this month.

In India, however, Xiaomi’s best-selling phone remains the budget-friendly Redmi Note 3, and the company has further expanded in the lower price segment with the Redmi 3S. Also, if you like large screen phone, the Xiaomi Mi Max Prime (128GB) is currently available for purchase on Amazon India.
