Upcoming Moto G’s specs don’t look that impressive
Moto G (3rd gen) could be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC, 1GB of RAM and come with a 13MP camera.
Earlier today, specs of the upcoming Moto G (3rd gen) were leaked by multiple sources. A YouTube video and a Reddit link which showed the leaked specs of the phone have now been removed. However, the images posted by Neo Lee on Google+ are still available. Images of the Moto X (3rd gen) were also leaked earlier this month and it seems like Motorola is almost ready to launch both the phones in the coming months.
Going by the leaked images, the Moto G (3rd gen) looks quite similar to its current iteration, the Moto G (2nd gen). However, the back gets a textured layer with a Motorola dimple and dual-LED flash unlike the matte back on the current Moto G. On the front there is a 4.97-inch HD display which was expected from this budget offering. What was not expected however was the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC. The phone was expected to have the upcoming and much rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 SoC.
According to the leaks, the phone still has 1GB of RAM at a time where 2GB RAM is rapidly becoming the norm in the budget segment. Similarly 8GB of internal storage instead of 16GB is not very promising. At the back there is a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and at the front there is a 5MP camera. Both seem like a good upgrade over the current Moto G cameras. Motorola will betting high on its software since the phone runs on Android 5.1.1 and we can vouch that Motorola will keep the stock experience intact. It is also rumored that the phone will get Moto Voice and a 2300mAh battery.
All in all, the Moto G (3rd gen) is shaping out to be not so impressive. With a spec sheet which is similar to the phones selling at the 7K price mark, the Moto G may not be able to cut it with just an updated camera. Moreover, even the latest Moto E (4G) runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410.
