Two new Sony Xperia handsets leaked

Updated on 17-Jan-2012

Sony is expected to release two new Xperia smartphones at MWC, devices which have been leaked online recently. The Japanese giant showed off the Xperia S and Ion ahead of CES this year, devices that were leaked repeatedly in the last quarter of 2011.

In the leaked images, two devices can be seen, codenamed Sony Xperia Nypon and Xperia Kumquat. Both devices are thought to be powered by the new ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500 chipset.

The Xperia Nyphon will apparently bear a 4-inch 960×540 pixel Reality display, an 8MP camera with 1080p HD video recording capability. The Xperia Kumquat, thought to be the successor to the Xperia mini, will bear a 3.5-inch 854×480 pixel display, and a 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording.

Of course, specs of the leaked devices will have to be taken with a pinch of salt – we’ll get to know more details at MWC next month.
