Use Apple Pay outside the US with this simple trick

Use Apple Pay outside the US with this simple trick
HIGHLIGHTS

Apple Pay is currently exclusive to US-based iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users but MacRumours suggests otherwise.

If you’re an Apple user then chances are you’re already disappointed with the fact that Apple Pay won’t be available outside the US anytime soon. Well, think again. A new report suggest a very simple trick can allow you to use Apple Pay outside the United States. The trick was revealed by MacRumours.

First you need a US-based credit card and the home country on your iPhone must be set as United States. This will reportedly enable you to set up the cards using Passbook and use Apple Pay.

That said, the trick shouldn’t really be useful for Indian consumers considering that there are no Apple Pay partners in the country. Even if you do have Apple Pay on your phone, you can’t walk into any store and tap your phone for an NFC payment. Moreover, if you do get the chance to use it and you’re an overseas iPhone 6 or 6 Plus user, you would want to avoid it so as not to incur additional currency exchange charges.

Apple Pay was rolled out a few days ago after the launch of the new iPads, Mac Mini and Retina 5k iMac. The service will be available only to customers in the US for the near future.
