HIGHLIGHTS

Nothing unveils Phone 3(a) and 3(a) Pro at MWC 2025, set for official launch on March 4.

Powered by Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, the 3(a) Pro features Nothing’s first Periscope Telephoto sensor with up to 60x zoom.

The phones will introduce Essential Space AI-powered memory and might include a dedicated camera button.

Nothing has been teasing its upcoming Phone 3(a) series for the last few days now. And, at the ongoing MWC 2025, the London-based tech company officially unveiled the two models as part of the line-up. Both the Nothing Phone 3(a) and Phone 3(a) Pro were unveiled by Nothing co-founder and newly-appointed India President Akis Evangelidis at a presentation at the Qualcomm booth.

Now, it’s confirmed that two mid-range smartphones will make their debut on March 4, during the second day of MWC 2025 in Barcelona. However, the phones were kept in a glass which means I couldn’t have a hands-on experience and can’t talk much about the devices yet.

The 3a appears to refine the design of its predecessor, the Phone 2a, featuring a more prominent camera module. The 3a Pro, on the other hand, takes a more unconventional design approach. It has an asymmetrical camera layout is quite striking. Just like the Nothing phones of the past, the design can also be polarising.

Additionally, Akis confirmed today that both models will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset. This marks a departure from last year’s Phone 2a, which surprised many by incorporating a MediaTek processor instead. Separately, the phone maker has also confirmed that the Phone 3(a) Pro will feature a Periscope Telephoto sensor on a Nothing phone for the very first time and might be the big differentiator between the two models.

The camera system is set to support 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom, and an impressive 60x “ultra zoom,” along with 4K video recording and Ultra HDR photography.

Nothing has also been teasing something called the Essential Space on these phones which will act as your ‘second memory’ and use AI. There are also rumours that a dedicated camera button could be part of the package.

Both these phones will be available in India at the same time as other markets.
