The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4’s under-display camera will be easier to hide than the Galaxy Z Fold 3

Updated on 09-Aug-2022

According to previously leaked renderings, the Galaxy Fold 4 and Galaxy Flip 4 seem to have similar looks to the Fold 3 and Flip 3 from last year.

Soon, Samsung's Z-series folding phones will be available in a new batch. More than two weeks from today, on August 10, Samsung will unveil the new Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4. However, as with most Samsung flagships, leaked renderings of the phone have appeared on the internet.

Twitter tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has a good track record regarding leaked renderings, and 91Mobiles is the source of the latest leaks. Samsung has released photographs of the Galaxy Fold 4 and the Galaxy Flip 4 in both their open and closed versions, showing off the many colour choices available this year.

There seem to be three colour options for this year's Z Fold 4 — black, beige, and grey. Despite this, the Flip 4 is available in four colours: black/gold/blue/purple. Both phones' designs don't seem to have changed much from last year. In particular, the Z Flip resembles the Flip 3 from the previous year.

Even though leaked images of the Fold 4 show it with black backgrounds, we don't know whether it will include an under-display front camera like the Fold 3. So far, so good, but we'll have to wait and see how the front camera is used this year. The Fold 4 hasn't been officially confirmed to support the S-Pen yet this year, but it seems plausible considering that Samsung has formally discontinued the Note series.

A more expansive outside display and improved in-display crease are also promised from Samsung this year. There is still a lot we don't know about this matter. The Fold 4 and Flip 4 are powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipsets now.

We have less than two days before Samsung's newest devices are officially unveiled, but the excitement has worn off. As good as Samsung's following foldable smartwatches and earbuds may seem on paper, it's hard to fathom being startled at Galaxy Unpacked, given what we've seen thus far. As long as the leaks continue, we won't be through with them. You don't have to wait until Wednesday to find out whether Samsung's under-display camera on the Z Fold 4 has improved this year.
