The Apple iPhone 15 Pro skips the solid-state buttons in the new rumoured design

Updated on 13-Apr-2023

A video source showcases the dummy model for the new design of iPhone 15 Pro and its framework which is quite different from the information floating the market for design layout. Ming-Chi Kuo, analyst, according to a report has said that there are unresolved technical issues leading to the skip of solid-state buttons.

Previously, the iPhone 15 Pro was rumoured to have titanium frames and solid-state buttons that would have 3D Touch haptic engines. However, with the recent developments from the analyst the premium model will have the regular physical buttons.

According to the dummy leaked video, the model will see a longer volume rocker however, the alert and volume buttons were to be designed as the original home button of the iPhone model, that is the capacitive buttons. The rumours about the design started floating in last October when Kuo broke the news. However, now the analyst states that the design would not be added to this edition of models but that does not in any way mean that it cannot be done later.

The change in the manufacturing would cost the suppliers however, there will be no delay in the release of the range as the products are still in the internal validation and testing period (EVT). This also creates a space for the idea to be rehashed and we actually might see capacitive buttons for volume and silent/mute functions. Kuo exclaimed in the memo that Cirrus Logic, AAC Technologies, and Luxshare ICT, are expected to face the consequences as these suppliers were to  manufacture the dedicated microprocessor for the new Taptic engine buttons on a large operating scale.

Apart from that, the new iPhone 15 Pro range might see the deduction of the Lightning port in favour of USB-Type C port. The whole range will get a new port, however, the premium range will offer a high speed connection of UFS 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3, said Ming-Chi Kuo.
