Tata Docomo introduces TwittCom for VAS activation via Twitter

Updated on 30-May-2012

Tata DOCOMO has released a Twitter-based service for its pre-paid GSM customers, called TwittCom , which will enable customers to activate a number of value-added services (VAS) via Twitter, using a variety of hashtags.

TwittCom was reportedly developed in-house at TataTeleservices Limited. Users will first have to register their mobiles to activate the service, by visiting @tatadocomo on Twitter, and entering their #reg <mobile number>. Customers will then receive a PIN for verification purposes via SMS, and then, tweet out @tatadocomo <PIN>. They will then receive confirmation of registration via a retweet.

Once registered, customers can activate value added services by visiting @tatadocomo, and typing in the #act# <service><value>. The service activation amount will then be deducted from the user’s balance.

Speaking at the launch of the new service, Ritesh Ghosal, head of brand marketing at TTL said:

“With the increasing consumption of Internet and the rise of social media, it makes ample sense to be present on the medium where people are spending time at present or they are likely to spend time in the future.”
