Swipe has announced the launch of the cheapest VR capable smartphone in India. Swipe Elite VR features a 5.5-inch HD display and comes bundled with VR lens for a virtual reality experience. The company says that the launch of its Elite VR smartphone will democratise the virtual reality experience in the entry-level price point.
The Swipe Elite VR is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 chipset coupled with 1GB RAM and 8GB expandable storage. It sports a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The dual-SIM smartphone also supports 4G VoLTE and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The handset is backed by a 3000mAh battery and will be available exclusively on ShopClues at Rs 4,499.
Shripal Gandhi, Founder and CEO, Swipe said that the launch of the Elite VR smartphone is part of the company's Swipe 2.0 transformation from a mobile gadgets company to a personal electronics company. He also added that Swipe will introduce new products in categories other than smartphones starting this week. Swipe Elite VR also comes with the SwiftKey keyboard as the default input method. SwiftKey supports 10 Indian languages and users can type in up to five native languages at the same time.
Alongside the Elite VR, Swipe has also introduced KONNECT Star 2017 smartphone aimed at first-time buyers. The handset sports a 4-inch display and is powered by a 1GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone offers 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, 5MP primary camera and a 1.3MP secondary camera. The dual-SIM smartphone is 4G VoLTE enabled and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Swipe KONNECT Star 2017 also connects to Indus OS to access support for 12 regional languages, translation and transliteration features. The smartphone is priced at Rs 3,333.
