Xiaomi Mi5 which is likely to be announced on January 21 was seen earlier today on an e-retail website. Since then, the page has been taken down but the listing has revealed some important specifications of the phone. The specs of the phone have been under constant speculation but the latest rumours suggest that the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. The phone is expected to launched on February 20th.
According to the e-retail website GearBest which listed the phone, Xiaomi Mi5 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. This new SoC from Qualcomm has been in the news lately for its new design and architecture. The Snapdragon 820 is a quad-core SoC which is manufactured using 14nm FinFET technology. Moreover, this is the first time Qualcomm will be using its custom made Kryo cores instead of ARM based processor cores. This year, we are likely to see a number of flagship phones powered by the Snapdragon 820.
Coming back to the Xiaomi Mi5, the listing suggested that the smartphone will have a 5.2-inch display, offering a resolution of 2560 x 1440p. It will have 4GB RAM and while the listing showed 16GB built-in storage, it is expected that the company will bring another variant of the phone with higher storage capacity, probably 64GB. The phone is expected to get a 16MP rear camera with dual-LED flash. Whether the phone will have OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), is still not clear. The front-facing camera is suggested to be an 8MP one and it may house a 3600mAh battery.
The listing also reveals that the phone will offer dual-SIM capabilities and will be 4G enabled as well. Previous rumors have suggested that the phone will also get a fingerprint reader. The Xiaomi Mi5 is likely to run on MIUI 7 which is based on Android Lollipop 5.1. All the mentioned features and specs match previous leaks and even the design is quite similar to what we have seen in the past. It should be mentioned that the phone was previously listed on Oppomart with slightly different specs last month. However, that page has also been taken down.
