Sony’s upcoming QX1 lens attachment will turn your smartphone into a DSLR
Leaked information suggests that Sony will be bringing a new QX lens attachment system which will have an APS-C sensor and the ability to interchange lenses.
Sony had brought in a peculiar camera device last year which had a lens equipped with a sensor that could be connected to a smartphone via NFC and an app. The QX10 and QX100 were the only two options available, but this year Sony is expected to make things even crazier.
According to sources, Sony will be launching the QX1 at IFA which will have a similar design as the previous models but now will include an APS-C sensor which is usually seen in entry-level DSLR cameras and will allow you to interchange lenses. Oh, and did we mention that it will have a built-in pop-up flash?
The QX10 and QX100 which were launched last year, didn't do so well and Sony’s idea of making photography much more portable sort of fizzled out. With the new QX1, the user will be able to swap out lenses on the sensor mount base attached to the smartphone, with any of Sony’s E-mount interchangeable lenses, so any Sony NEX camera lens should work on it.
Just like the previous two models, the new QX1 will work by wirelessly connecting to a smartphone thanks to the built in Wi-Fi and you can either mount it on the smartphone or just use it independently. It will come with a chargeable battery and microSD card slot as well. According to Sony Alpha Rumors, the new QX1 system will cost about $400 (Rs. 24,200 approx.) for the body and about $600 (Rs. 36,300 approx.) with a 16-50mm lens.
All will be revealed this week when Sony will officially announce its new products at IFA 2014.
