HIGHLIGHTS

How bad do you want the Sony Xperia Z? Do you want it bad enough to actually hop onto an international flight because the phone has already started selling in the tech-savvy lands of Japan.

Have you been excited about the Sony Xperia Z ever since Sony showed it off at CES? Well, if you just can’t wait to own the latest from Sony, then you might want to find connections in Japan as the phone has started retailing throughout the country.

The Sony Xperia Z can be had for a whopping 80,430 Japanese Yen, which roughly comes out to about Rs. 46,000 (contract-free). It is currently being made available through NTT DoCoMo and will be available on Monday to those who have pre-ordered it. When it will release in India, however, is merely speculation. We’re hearing whispers of a March release, but nothing on the price. Our brethren in Europe should get their hands on this gorgeous device by February end for a suggested price of 529 Pounds.

The Sony Xperia Z is the next flagship from Sony that will run on a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor and will boast a whopping 2GB of RAM. All this processing prowess will go to power the gorgeous 1920×1080 pixel 5-inch display with a pixel density of about 441 ppi. The Xperia Z will also ship with 16GB of on-board memory which can be expanded to 32GB courtesy a microSD card slot. If you’re concerned about imaging, the Xperia Z boasts of a 13MP rear camera and a 2.2MP front-facing camera with full HD video capabilities.

However, one feature that really should excite many people is that the phone comes with an IP55 and IP57 certification, meaning that it is dust and water resistant. This should come as a relief to many of us who are clumsy with liquids all the time.
