Sony Xperia XZ Pro may ditch the 3.5mm audio jack
The schematics of an FCC filing by Sony suggests that the upcoming phone may come with a special cable that splits into a USB-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack
It seems like Sony’s upcoming device, the Xperia XZ Pro, may not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. According to a report by Pocket Now, a new Sony device has been filed with the FCC with the ID PY7-21831A. Schematics accompanying the filing suggests that the device will feature a ‘Charging Mode’ and depicts the device with a special cable that splits into a USB-C port an a 3.5mm audio jack, This should give users the option of plugging in their headphones while the phone is being charged.
While the filing doesn’t mention the name of the phone, the report notes dimensions of 152.79 x 72.42mm that seems to suggest a display size of about 5.7-inches. This is the same screen size that the Sony Xperia XZ Pro is expected to feature. The device is tipped to feature a 4K OLED display and may be powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC with 6GB of RAM. The phone is also expected to offer 128GB of onboard storage. Besides this, the phone is tipped to come with a dual-rear camera setup with an 18MP and 12MP cameras. Other features that the phone may feature include 3420mAh battery and IP16 certification.

The Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia XA2 are powered by a Snapdragon 630 SoC and run on Android Oreo. Both phones also come with a 23MP rear camera. However, the XA2 Ultra sports a 6-inch Full HD display, a 3580mAh battery and dual front cameras. The Xperia XA2 sports a smaller 5.2-inch Full HD display, 3300mAh battery and a single 8MP front camera. The Sony Xperia L2 is an entry-level smartphone and sports a 5.5-inch HD display. It is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 SoC with 3GB of RAM. At the back is a 13MP camera, while at the front is an 8MP unit.
