Sony Xperia Tipo, Tipo Dual go up for pre-order online
Sony’s Android-based Xperia Tipo and Tipo Dual are now available for pre-order in India via online retailer Flipkart at Rs. 9,499 and Rs. 10,299 respectively. Both the Xperia devices are expected to launch in the second week of this month.
The Sony Xperia Tipo runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and is powered by an 800MHz processor. The Xperia Tipo has 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with 320 X 480 pixels resolution, 3.2MP camera, 512MB of RAM, 2.9GB built-in storage (up to 2.5GB user-accessible memory) and microSD card slot that supports storage up to 32GB. The device comes with a 1,500 mAh battery, which is rated to deliver 5 hours of talktime on 2G mode and 4 hours on 3G.
For connectivity, the device supports Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth. The Xperia Tipo comes preloaded with various apps such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Gmail, Google Voice Search, Google Talk, WhatsApp, Google Play, Instant Messaging. Full specifications of the Sony Xperia Tipo are available here.
Sony Xperia Tipo Dual listed on Flipkart as ‘coming soon’
The Sony Xperia Tipo Dual comes with same set of specifications except that it supports dual SIM (GSM GSM). Sony’s new Xperia Tip Dual will be pitted against other budget dual-SIM Android smartphones, with ICS on board. Karbonn recently launched Smart A18 smartphone, featuring dual-SIM, 4.3 inch display, ICS and 5MP camera. The Karbonn device is available at online stores at Rs. 9,790. iBall’s Andi 5c has 5-inch touchscreen, dual SIM, ICS and 5MP camera. It is available at Rs. 12,999. Learn more about the Andi 5c here.
It’s notable that the other major brand, Samsung is yet to launch an ICS-based dual SIM smartphone for that price category. Its latest Samsung Galaxy Y Duos Lite runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The popular Galaxy Y Duos also runs on Gingerbread and is available online at Rs. 8,490.
