Sony Xperia Honami and Togari rumoured for release in July
HIGHLIGHTS

The rumour mill is back at it, and with barely a month having gone by since Sony unleashed its Xperia Z flagship to the world, we're already hearing of potential replacements.

The world of cell-phones is in constant motion, and the rumour mill must keep up. We are now hearing word of two new phones from the Sony Xperia camp that could, if the leaked information is to be beloved, pose some serious threat to existing flagships when they launch in the second half of 2013.

The leaks are courtesy a poster on the Baidu forums who claims to be a tester of the first Xperia device. Codenamed “Togari” which is said to sport a behemoth 6.4-inch 1080p HD screen. The device will follow the same design principle as the Xperia Z, which we hope means that the Z’s water and dust resistance will also factor into the Togari’s design. The phone will also carry the same glass back design and is said to have at least the white bezel available as an option.

The juicier news, however, comes about a device named Honami, which is said to be the “One Phone to Rule them All” from the Sony camp. Processor specs aside, the phone is said to house the best of all Sony technologies, such as a 5-inch 1080p display, supposedly powered by the Bravia 2 engine. There’s also talk of a dedicated Walkman chip, supposedly the S-Master MX Digital Amplifier and a 20MP Cyber-shot CMOS sensor with Carl Zeiss lens.

If you must know about where the Honami will derive the chops to run the best of Sony, then you needn’t worry, as the smartphone is supposedly powered by the Snapdragon S800 chipset with 2.3 GHz quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The Honami is also supposed to be water and dust resistant, according to the leak.

Rumours don’t get any juicier than this and we know that the juicier they are, the more chances of them being untrue. So as a rule of thumb, we do recommend a few pinches of salt to go with this. Both phones are expected to launch sometime in July, but there is no word on when or in which parts of the world.
