With only a few days left to go for Mobile World Congress to begin in Barcelona, Spain, critical details about the four upcoming Sony Xperia models have leaked, including their images, specifications, and prices. From a recent report by 91mobiles, we know Sony is planning to announce the Xperia 10, Xperia 10 Plus, Xperia 1, and Xperia L3. From this list, the Sony Xperia 1 has been identified as the company’s flagship smartphone. When launched, it will compete with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S10, which was launched in India just yesterday. Let’s take a look at the models expected:
Sony Xperia 10
Originally identified as the Xperia XA3, the Xperia 10 is expected to be a mid-range smartphone with a 21:9 display. The display measures 6 inches diagonally and has a Full HD+ resolution. It’s expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset and 3GB of RAM. Storage is said to be 64GB with an option to expand. We expect to see a dual 13-megapixel + 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 8-megapixel single selfie shooter in the front. The battery should be a 2,870mAh unit. As before, the fingerprint sensor is on the side of the body. When launched, the Xperia 10 is expected to sell for $399 (Rs 28,350 approx) with Android 9 Pie running out of the box.
Sony Xperia 10 Plus
Previously known as the XA3 Plus, the Xperia 10 is a larger version of the mid-range Xperia 10. Its display, whose aspect ratio is also 21:9, is 6.5 inches with a Full HD+ resolution. It’s expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset and 4GB of RAM. Storage is expected to be the same as that available on the Xperia 10. That’s a mild upgrade over its non-Plus counterpart. The camera setup is expected to be the same as the one on the Xperia 10 (a dual 13-megapixel + 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 8-megapixel single selfie shooter in the front). The battery should be a slightly larger 3,000mAh unit. As always, the fingerprint sensor goes on the side of the body. When launched, the Xperia 10 Plus is expected to sell for $399 (Rs 28,350 approx) with Android 9 Pie running out of the box. Though the rumoured price of the Xperia 10 and the Xperia 10 Plus is the same, we expect to see a difference of around Rs 5,000 between the two models.
Sony Xperia 1
The Xperia 1 is expected to be the big fish—the Japanese giant’s flagship smartphone. It has a 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display with an aspect ratio of 21:9. It should be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 chipset and 6GB of RAM. Storage is expected to be 128GB with an option to expand. The flagship is said to come with a triple 12-megapixel camera setup on the back with optical image stabilisation (one regular, one wide-angle, and one telephoto) and an 8-megapixel selfie shooter in the front. The battery should be a 3,300mAh unit. The fingerprint sensor goes on—you guessed it—the side of the body. When launched, the Xperia 1 is expected to sell for $1,099 (Rs 78,000 approx) with Android 9 Pie running out of the box.
Sony Xperia L3
The Xperia L3 is Sony’s most inexpensive offering from the rumoured list and the only one not to sport a 21:9 display. It has a 5.7-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Powering it should be a MediaTek 6762 chipset with 3GB of RAM. There’s no word yet on what storage options it will have. Shooters on the back are expected to be a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel pair, while the one on the front is expected to be an 8-megapixel unit. The fingerprint sensor is on the side as usual. The battery should be a 3,300mAh unit. When launched, the Xperia L3 is expected to sell for $199 (Rs 14,400 approx) with Android 8 Oreo running out of the box.
