You might recall that stream of news that Sony has been readying the Odin and the Yuga smartphones for launch at CES. Though there was no official word till now, we did know that the smartphone codenamed Odin would be sold as the Xperia X. Now, there is more clarity on the Yuga as well.
According to images leaked on the Sony Mobile website, the Yuga will be sold as the Xperia ZL globally. There are also images of the Xperia Z, which is supposed to be the version that will be sold in Japan. While the specs remain the same on both devices, there are certain visual elements that keep the two apart – the ZL is slimmer and the front facing camera on the Xperia ZL is below the display, and not above it as on the Xperia Z.
Speaking of the specs, both phones will get a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB of RAM and a 13MP camera. The Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL will sport 5-inch displays with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution. It is expected that both devices will come with Android 4.1.2 out of the box.
The timing seems pretty much in line with what will surely be a CES 2013 launch on 8th January, with the phones hitting shelves globally not much later.
