Good news for Sony Xperia users. Sony has just released Android 5.0 AOSP device configuration source code, pre-built software binaries and build instructions for Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact smartphones.
You can also now create Android 5.0, Lollipop, AOSP-based custom ROMs for the above mentioned devices. To get started, visit AOSP for Xperia section on Sony's Developer World. You need to download software binaries for Lollipop and follow build instructions to download, configure, build and flash the source code onto your device.
Sony point out that the software comes with some important limitations such as camera is not working and the model is disabled, which means you cannot take photos or make phone calls. Learn more about Sony's Android 5.0 AOSP release hre.

Google has just started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The latest update focusses on bringing consistent design, which Google calls Material Design, across mobile, desktop and other devices.
