Snapdragon 650-powered Sony Xperia Z6 Lite to launch in May 2016?
The Sony Xperia Z6 Lite may have a 5-inch display, run on Snapdragon 650, and could be priced around 2500 Yuan
New rumours have surfaced online regarding a new phone by Sony, allegedly the Sony Xperia Z6 Lite. If information regarding the phone is true, this will be the sixth phone in the much rumoured Xperia Z6 line-up. Previously, it was speculated that Sony might launch five new models in the Xperia Z6 lineup, starting with the smallest 4-inch Z6 Mini, a 4.6-inch Xperia Z6 Compact, the regular 5.2-inch Z6, a 5.8-inch Xperia Z6 Plus, and a 6.4-inch Xperia Z6 Ultra.
According to Mobile-dad, the Sony Xperia 650 will be sporting a the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 SoC. This hexa-core SoC was launched recently and was earlier known as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 618. Apart from this, the phone is expected to have a 5-inch display with an unknown resolution, 2.5D curved glass on the front and metal back cover. Information on the rest of the specification is scarce. The site also suggests that the phone could be priced around 2500 Yuan (Rs. 25,500 approx.) and the device could be launched around May 2016.
If previous rumours surrounding the Xperia Z6 familiy is true, the Xperia Z6 Compact, Xperia Z6, Xperia Z6 Plus and the Xperia Z6 Ultra could be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC. Sony won’t be the only company to offer phones powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, as it is very likely that Samsung, LG, HTC and other major phone manufacturers may use the same chipset in upcoming devices, with a few expected to be launched at CES 2016.
As of now, the Sony Xperia Z6 Lite is only a rumour, so you would rather not count on it straightaway.
