Israeli company, Sirin Labs has launched an Android phone whose prices start at €9,500, which is roughly Rs. 7,16,400. Called the Sirin Solarin, the company says that the reason the phone is priced so high is because the device incorporates privacy technology that is “currently unavailable outside the agency world.” The company has partnered with KoolSpan to integrate chip-to-chip 256bit AES encryption, which they say is the same technology used by militaries to protect their communications. However, they encryption level needs to be manually activated via a Security Switch on the back of the device. Once activated, the phone enters a “shielded mode” and fully encrypts calls and messages.
The Sirin Solarin is constructed using a metal matrix composite chassis with titanium panels of strength. The phone features a 5.5-inch IPS QHD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC with 4GB of RAM. The phone offers 128GB of inbuilt storage and a 4040mAh battery, which the company claims to offer up to 31 hours of talk time. At the back of the device is a 23.8MP camera with laser autofocus and a four-tone flash, while at the front is an 8MP camera with a 75 degree wide-angle lens. The phone runs Android Lollipop v5.1.1 and has a fingerprint sensor located below the rear camera.
