Sharp's smartphone is the first of its kind, with a true edge-to-edge display.

The smartphone market seems to be stagnating with more similar looking devices being launched each day. But wait, it seems Sharp, the company behind the displays on the Apple iPhones, Xiaomi Mi3 etc. is looking to change that. US-based telecom service provider Sprint has announced that it will be launching Sharp’s new Aquos Crystal range of smartphones. No prizes for guessing, the phone’s display looks amazing in photos.

The Aquos Crystal range of smartphones feature a full-screen design, with no bezels on either side or the top. The 5-inch Aquos Crystal smartphone, which is a mid-range device to be launched by Sprint, will be available for $239 (Rs. 14,500 approx.) without contract in the US. The device has an edge-to-edge 720 pixel display and is the first true bezel-less smartphone in the market.

It has a plastic back with a matte finish with perforations like the Samsung Galaxy S5. It runs the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS and a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor along with 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage along with a micro-SD card slot. It supports the faster Spark LTE network and Harmon Kardon audio enhancements.
